Madame C- presents her compliments and expresses her extreme gratification at the proposal that she should be a Yuletide fandom. She has consulted with Mr MacD-, that is known as HotUtilitarian among those that further explore the topick of manly passion in such works of literature as Rasselas, Caleb Williams, and The Modern Prometheus, who informs her that there can be no objection in the matter. He also informs her that it is rumour'd that Lady J- and the late Miss B- spent many happy hours on a work of Clarissa Improv'd, in which the heroine and her dear friend Miss Howe come to the revelation of their mutual devotion and make a flight into happy rural seclusion.

HotUtilitarian! I would declare my passion, but I fear it would leave Mr MacD entirely unmoved.

I look forward with delight to the possibility of Madame C- Yuletide creations.

(May we also hope that one day Madame C- will gather her memoirs for publication in a single volume, or perhaps three volumes?)

And not that you probably need it, but I do have acquaintances in the electronick self-publickation business e.g. Amazon, Smashwords, and so on, should such advice prove useful in the dissemination of Mme C-'s memoirs.

(They also tell me that it is perfectly acceptable to release a Vol I, to be followed later by Vol II and so on and even bundled together at the end. Should the project run to such lengths (a prospect which I, for one, would not mind in the least).)

Thank you, Madame C-!

Given that Madame C-'s milieu is so frequent with vivid and charming persons, of whom there are surely many untold histories to relate, some co-ordinated collaboration on point of Nominations, when the time comes, might be desirable?

(I am sure as always in such matters I am quite the last to know, but the confirmation of the identity of HotUtilitarian, whose masterly and masterful Things As They Might Be enthralled the Fanatick community last year, despite those recurrent hiatuses that caused us all such terror that it would not ever be finish'd, is most gratifying.)

Perhaps the first thing to decide upon would be what to call the fandom itself? Simply "The Comfortable Courtesan"? Do we have to pick a category (Books, Movies, TV, Anime, etc)? I have never nominated for a brand-new fandom before!

I think the canonical form would be 'The Comfortable Courtesan -- Oursin'? & afaik the AO3 tag wranglers take care of the category. It might not be a bad idea, if anyone's feeling inspired, to get one or two short fics up before Yuletide nominations open?

Oh, yes! I think you're right. At least, my best beloved (who has run fests on AO3 before) says so, with the minor edit that it would be with a hyphen rather than a dash. So "The Comfortable Courtesan - Oursin" (unless of course our author prefers a different penname or whatever).

I agree it would be helpful for making-canonical-tags purposes if a few things were posted before Yuletide noms. Hmmmm.

And characters--would that be the form of "Madame C-" "Mr F-" "Mr MacD- (Sandy)" "Seraphine" "The Wombatt" "General Y-" and so on?

Oh, characters as listed by Madame C- must remain that way. But future fic, such as the Who Do You Think You Are? discussion could give the real name of the descendent.

As I understand it, the actual author's name or nom de plume is required for AO3 tagging. It would sadly end up like this:

The Comfortable Courtesan, by Herself - Oursin

Which leads to the unfortunate implication that our heroine is more solitary than is in fact the case! :P
